In winter Gulmarg is a serious ski mountain. In summer it is a bowl of flowers under Kongdoori. The gondola does the lifting; we keep the rest unhurried — lodge fireplaces, meadow walks, and no alarm-clock tourism.
Day 1
Drive from Srinagar through Tangmarg. Afternoon at the golf green or first snow.
Day 2
Gondola to Kongdoori and, weather allowing, Apharwat. Picnic above the treeline.
Day 3
Ski lesson or a long walk to Khilanmarg. Evening by the fire.
Day 4
Slow breakfast and descend, or add Strawberry Valley.
